First Logo Designs and New Project Name Revealed....

Updated: Feb 27, 2018

When we first started this journey last April, we never knew if we would even get to this stage but this project has grown from strength to strength. We are now in a position where we needed to start designing a logo and brand for the project. I am very lucky to have a very talented sister who does this for a living at Lydia Rose Design and she has been working on the initial design which we couldn't wait to share. We started a Suffragettes Branding Pintrest board and complied lots of different design looks that we liked and it came down to hand-drawn and vintage feel. Here are a couple of examples of images that we liked.

So after giving this to Lydia she started designing the logo, and she gave us some ideas of what could be done and then she mentioned designing the trefoil (GirlGuiding's logo) in the form of a suffragette ribbon. Following the colours of Green, White & Purple. The design still has a long way to go as there are a few more elements to put in place such as little birds, tea cups and involving the Royal Holloway Logo somehow as they are the amazing people who have given us the ability to create this project. So here is the our logo at the very early stages of design...

This is the first part of the design. As you can see it hasn't yet been coloured in but this is the initial design (pending approval from GirlGuiding's Branding Team). We love how authentic, and hand-drawn this is matching our initial visions for the logo. The next part is the addition of a banner and pretty flowers, we also hope to add in a silhouette of the Royal Holloway founders building to add the Royal Holloway Element.

In addition to creating the logo we had to come up with a better name for the project other than "Egham Rangers & The Suffragettes" which is slightly too long and a bit boring. We always like the idea of 'Time for Tea' as a play on words from the current campaign 'Time for Change' as our project has quite a heavy tea party theme. This is because Tea House's were the only places women could communicate freely without being arrested for disturbing the peace during the time of "The Suffragettes". Therefore Egham Rangers would like to present to the world...

"The Libertea Project"

Our events over the next few months will be under the name of the "The LiberTea Project" we'll be having our very special "Libertea" & "The Libertea Festival" held at Royal Holloway in the Emily Davidson Building. Yay!

Here's another picture of the current logo design coloured in - however it isn't the final colours as this was just for fun!

Fingers crossed we're allowed to use it! If we can't we thought we would share it here so the world can see its beauty!
